System i DiskMiser Product Updates

Download the System i DiskMiser 2.0 Update Patch. Follow the instructions below to install this patch.

How to Install the System i DiskMiser 2.0 Update Patch

1.

On your System i create a save file called DMZ1107P in library QGPL.

2.

On your PC extract the file dmz1107p.savf from dmz1107p.zip into a temporary directory. We'll use c:\temp in this example.

3.

Open a command (DOS) window. At the prompt enter the location of the downloaded file on your PC.

C:\>cd [pathname] <ENTER>
C:\temp>

4.

Next, the save file DMZ1107P needs to be transfered to the QGPL library on the System i. If your System i filesystem or QGPL library is shared on the network, you can simply drag-and-drop this file into the proper library and skip ahead to step 5. If not, the following example shows you how to use the ftp command in Windows 95/98/NT to transfer the downloaded file. Be sure not to skip any steps.

C:\temp>ftp [System i IP address] <ENTER>
Connected to [System i IP address]
220-QTCP at System i.
220 Connection will close if idle more than 5 minutes.

Userid: [System i User ID] <ENTER>
331 Enter password.

Password: [System i password] <ENTER>
230 USERID logged on.

ftp> bin <ENTER>
200 Representation type is binary IMAGE.

ftp> put DMZ1107P.SAVF /QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/DMZ1107P.FILE <ENTER>
200 PORT subcommand request successful.
150 Sending file to member SAVF in file DMZ1107P in library QGPL.
250 File transfer completed successfully.

ftp> quit <ENTER>
221 QUIT subcommand received.

Please read the following instructions carefully to avoid loss of data.

The Disk Miser file DMZF was changed as part of this update.

This change was made so that Disk Miser could report on files larger than 10 (9,999,999,999) positions. Disk Miser can now report on files as large as 13 (9,999,999,999,999) positions.

So that you do not lose the data you have collected on your individual files, you will want to copy the data from the DMZF file to another library.

5.

From an System i command line, run the following command to save existing DiskMiser Data:

CPYF FROMFILE(DISKMISER/DMZF) TOFILE(Your_Library/DMZF) CRTFILE(*YES)

6.

From an System i command line, run the following command to update your copy of System i DiskMiser:

RSTOBJ OBJ(*ALL) SAVLIB(DISKMISER) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/DMZ1107P) RSTLIB(DISKMISER) ALWOBJDIF(*ALL)

7.

After you have installed these changes, run the following command from an System i command line to copy the saved data back to the Disk Miser library:

CPYF FROMFILE(Your_Library/DMZF) TOFILE(DISKMISER/DMZF) MBROPT(*REPLACE)

CRTFILE(*NO) FMTOPT(*MAP *DROP)

The installation of the System i DiskMiser Patch is now complete.
